Polish Liberal Arts College
is an English-speaking, international higher education institution offering an American Bachelor’s degree which opens the way to employment or to further education in the Anglo-Saxon/Bologna system (post-graduate Masters program, or Doctoral program).
Students receive a liberal arts degree in a chosen field of concentration (or "major"). Every student chooses a required number of courses in his or her field of concentration and a designated number of courses in other subject areas. All students must fulfil a core curriculum requirement, which includes courses in the methodology of science, logic, fine arts and other subjects useful to everyone irrespective of specialization. The academic programme as such is complemented by arts, sports and language courses. Education in the college does not end with the courses, however, as students – and instructors – live, socialize and participate in cultural life together. The choice of courses is up to the student, in consultation with an academic advisor, and is subject to minimum requirements within the field of concentration and to distribution requirements across the curriculum.
The College will offer the following majors: anthropology, arts, biology, chemistry, classics, comparative literature, computer science, economics, history, history of art, linguistics, mathematics, philosophy, physics, political science, psychology, sociology.
Half of the student body will come from Poland, half from other countries. Approximately one third of the total number of international students will come from Eastern Europe, one third from Western Europe, one third from the United States.
